I create acrylic paintings rooted in light and shadow, exploring identity, emotion, and transformation. My work draws from personal experience and the layered realities of becoming.
Each piece is a way for me to process and translate moments that are hard to put into words. I’m drawn to contrast, not just visually but emotionally. Softness and strength, grief and beauty, clarity and confusion can all exist at the same time, and I try to hold space for that in my work.
I also come from a background in graphic design, so even when I’m painting intuitively, there’s still intention behind composition, structure, and how everything sits on the canvas.
Influenced by chiaroscuro and guided by intuition, I use light to reveal what often goes unseen. A lot of my work reflects the complexity of the Black experience, memory, and the quiet power of figuring yourself out in real time.
Leelo is an embodiment of evolution. This work isn’t about arriving somewhere finished, it’s about honoring who I’m becoming as it’s happening.
